ANALYSIS OF THE EMPLOYEE PERSPECTIVE

Yet how can a company measure inclusive culture? And can effective measures be derived from such an exercise?
As the Competence Centre for Diversity and Inclusion at the Research Institute for International Management of the University of St.Gallen, we use qualitative and quantitative methods, state-of-the-art analysis techniques and forecasting tools to measure diversity and inclusion in companies.
Our approach in detail
We often start by analyzing your human resources data, which you send us anonymously and via a secure connection. The data is then analyzed based on relevant diversity dimensions (e.g. age, gender, origin, language, etc.), which usually provide a first indication of which groups might feel better or less integrated with the organization.
Additional methods can then provide more in-depth insights into the subjective perception of employees and managers about how inclusive your corporate culture is. Such methods might include an employee satisfaction survey with a focus on inclusion, interviews with managers, and/or focus groups. This mixed-method approach enables you to determine how inclusive your corporate culture is and where problems might lie. For example, anonymous employee surveys can be used to evaluate additional diversity dimensions that HR is not allowed to record for legal reasons (e.g. religion, sexual identity). As a further example, a company may have objectively fair wages or equal opportunities for career advancement, while employees actually perceive things differently. In a case like this, the appropriate response would be to implement new communication and sensitization measures rather than adjust wages or promotion processes.
The combination of objective facts and subjective employee assessments gives you a comprehensive picture of your company with regard to D&I-relevant topics. This enables you to take the most effective measures to increase your employees’ sense of belonging and appreciation and to position yourself as an attractive employer.
Of course, your information will be treated confidentially and will not be used for any other purpose. Our approach complies with current data protection legislation.
- You will receive an employee survey with results that you as a company would not be allowed to collect from your employees. The results are anonymous.
- You will receive a detailed report with recommendations for action, which have proven successful in practice and are tailored to your organization.
- If desired, we will be happy to assist you with implementing further steps and evaluating your progress on a regular basis.
You provide us with your anonymized data, which we analyze in a first step. You give us feedback on the questionnaire for the employee survey. You support the distribution of the survey and/or the organization of focus groups and interviews.
The costs depend on the scope of services provided. We are happy to make you an individual offer after an initial consultation.
